More About Rebecca

Rebecca is highly established in Ireland as a soloist, chamber musician and experienced orchestral performer. Having completed her undergraduate in the Royal Irish Academy of Music and won multiple Feis Ceoil competitions, she was awarded a bursary to take her Masters of Music in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. The adventure then took her onwards to Portugal where she was co-principal oboe and cor anglais player with the Orquestra do Algarve for four years. During her time there she regularly played with the Orquestra do Gulbenkian in Lisbon.

 

Since returning to Ireland, Rebecca is a regular performer with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra and RTE Concert Orchestra. She has toured Italy, Germany and China with Camerata Ireland, China, again, with the Dublin Philharmonic and played in the Berlin Konzerthaus with the Irish Chamber Orchestra. As a youngster she travelled to USA and Canada with the Irish Youth Orchestra. She has toured extensively with Opera Theatre Company and enjoys taking part in the Opera Ireland season once or twice a year.

 

Rebecca has appeared as a concerto soloist with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, the Hibernian Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Irish Academy Baroque Orchestra and the Orquestra do Algarve. She has also done solo recitals as part of the Kilkenny Arts Festival and in the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre in Dublin.

 

Rebecca plays in Gael Winds and has been invited to take part in the West Cork Chamber Music Festival twice, once performing with the Paris Bastille Octet in place of François Leleux. She has also performed octets with members of the London Mozart Players.

 

Rebecca is a competent pianist, piano teacher and arranger. Her string arrangements have been performed in rock music festivals in Portugal and she arranged and recorded the soundtrack for a feature length documentary on Derek Mahon, the famous Irish poet which was screened last year in the Irish Film Institute. Rebecca also worked as project manager and events coordinator for Kaleidoscope Dublin in 2012 and 2013.

 

Rebecca has arranged Gabriel’s Oboe for various ensembles including wind quintet, string quartet, piano and harp. Her repertoire is extremely wide, she’s extraordinarily flexible and enjoys mixing influences from contemporary, rock and electronic music into her performances when required.
